Albanian drug-dealer Edison Dautaj jailed after returning to UK following deportation and providing fake driving licence
An Albanian drug-dealer who returned to the UK after being deported and used a fake Bulgarian licence has been jailed – and forced to complete a previous sentence.
Edison Dautaj was jailed for six months at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday, having pleaded guilty to possession of a fake identification document alongside driving offences.
The court heard that, when stopped by officers in Ipswich on June 30, Dautaj provided them with a fake driving licence and a false address.
After his arrest, officers discovered that Dautaj was deported from the UK in May last year after being convicted for drug-dealing.
For this crime, for which he was arrested in October 2022, he was handed a two-year prison sentence, which he will now have to complete.
The six month sentence was for the false documents.
He was also given a nine month driving ban.
Sgt David Logan, from Suffolk Police, said Dautaj ‘flagrantly’ ignored his deportation order by returning to the UK illegally.
He said: “This is the second time Suffolk Police have located Dautaj breaking the law in Suffolk.
“When stopping him for the second time we found he was once again using a fraudulent Bulgarian ID document.
“I am pleased that Dautaj’s attempts to fool the authorities have not worked and he has been recalled to serve the remainder of his sentence.”
