Anglian Water invests £3m in Suffolk’s water network with projects in Belstead and Little Bealings
Anglian Water has invested £3 million in Suffolk’s water network, with some properties now connected to the mains sewerage for the first time.
The project as a whole across the region saw an investment of £20 million, and included the installation of nine pumping stations, two new vacuum stations and over 70 kilometres of new pipes.
In Suffolk, the operator completed £2 million worth of works at Belstead alongside a £1.1 million project in Little Bealings.
In total, 534 homes across the region have been connected to the main sewerage network in their area.
Chloe Bailey, a co-ordinator for the schemes, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to deliver these projects for hundreds of customers.
“Things may not seem different when they flush the toilet or use the shower, but this work will help protect the area from flooding and reduce the risk of pollutions.
Investigations took place prior to the work starting and found that the old drainage systems were not working correctly.
It is hoped this will cut pollution incidents, which were more prominent in some areas of the region where private systems were performing poorly.
