Body found in River Orwell near Ipswich is 17-year-old boy
A body found in the River Orwell today is that of a 17-year-old boy, police have confirmed.
Officers were called by members of the public at around 1am today who expressed concerns for a person seen on the Orwell Bridge near Ipswich.
Police attended the scene but were not able to find anyone.
A search involving police, paramedics, the Coastguard, fire crews and lifeboat crews was launched and a body was pulled from the water shortly after 4am.
Suffolk Police have confirmed that the teenager's death is being treated as not suspicious and that his next of kin have been informed.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
