Boy, 16, dies after falling from railway viaduct on Ipswich's Spring Road

A teenage boy has died after falling from a railway viaduct in Ipswich this morning, police have confirmed this afternoon.

Officers were called to reports of concern for the safety of a boy who fell from the viaduct at Spring Road just after 7.15am today.

The 16-year-old was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with head injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

Road closures were in place while an investigation was carried out, and these were lifted at about 9am.

Police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
