Uber launches independent service in Ipswich
Passengers can now catch a ride as Uber has officially launched in Ipswich.
The transportation firm said it was ‘extremely proud’ to accept fares across the town from today.
Andrew Brem, general manager of Uber UK, said it launched in the town following a significant rise in demand – with more than 4,000 people per week opening the app and looking for service.
He said: “By bringing Uber to the town we want to help maximise earnings opportunities for drivers, boost transport options for passengers, and support the local economy.”
Customers will now be able to book fares through the Uber app.
From now until September 15, riders can enjoy up to £20 off their next two rides.
This can be obtained by going to the app, opening the wallet, swiping to promotion and entering the promo code ‘HIIPSWICH’.
Uber gained a licence to operate in the town in May.
It has been active in Ipswich since 2021 through a partnership with Hawk Express – but now has permission to offer services independently.
