Firefighters battle undergrowth and gorse fire on King Charles path, in Levington Creek
Firefighters have been battling a blaze affecting undergrowth and gorse on a coastal path for more than four hours.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire on the King Charles path, in Levington Creek, at 8.14am today.
On arrival, it appeared that a BBQ has been discarded, igniting undergrowth and gorse.
Crews from Ipswich East, Princes Street and Felixstowe initially had to relay buckets of water and use water backpacks to tackle the blaze due to the inaccessibility of the fire.
However, better access was later found through a farmer’s field, where a Unimog was used.
Crews remain at the scene.
