Car fire on A14 eastbound after Orwell Bridge between Ipswich and Felixstowe prompts emergency service response
A car caught alight on a major Suffolk road this evening, prompting an emergency service response and traffic in the area.
Firefighters and police officers were called to the A14 between Ipswich and Felixstowe, after the Orwell Bridge, to reports of the blaze.
Upon arrival, fire crews from Ipswich East and Princes Street found a car was well alight in the eastbound carriageway.
Crews worked to extinguish the flames and, according to a Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, they have now left the scene.
They added that police remain in attendance.
According to the AA traffic map there are severe delays of 25 minutes on the road between junction 55 A12 Copdock Interchange and junction 57 Nacton Road.
The average speed in the area is 5mph.
