Suffolk superstar Ed Sheeran and pop legend Sir Elton John set to release new Christmas single

Suffolk sensation Ed Sheeran has revealed than fans can expect a new Christmas song from him and pop legend Sir Elton John this year.

Speaking in an interview with NPO Radio 2 in the Netherlands, Ed explained he and Elton have been planning the song since last Christmas.

When asked if he would ever release a Christmas song, Ed said: "If you wait two months you will see - there's something, there's something coming in December."

He then revealed the song came about after a festive phone call between the pair in which Elton said he wanted to create another Christmas hit.

"Elton rang me on Christmas Day to say Merry Christmas. Elton rings me almost every single day," Ed explained.

"He said, 'Step Into Christmas is Number 6 in the charts! I want to do another Christmas song - will you do it with me?"

"It's just me and him. It's great," he added.

The pair currently dominate the charts, with Ed's single, Shivers, taking the top spot and Elton John's collaboration with Dua Lipa, Cold Heart, coming in second.

Ed's new album = (equals) is set to be released on October 29.
