Emergency services in Ipswich called to two separate early morning car fires, in Great Whip Street and Malcolm Road




Emergency services were call to two separate fires in cars in a town early this morning.

The first blaze was in a Ford Fiesta in Great Whip Street, Ipswich, which firefighters were sent to at 12.54am.

Police were also called to the scene at 1.30am.

Crews used a hose-reel jet to put out the fire, which was dealt with by 1.38am.

The cause of the incident is not known.

Firefighters were called to another incident in Malcolm Road, Ipswich, at 2.11am.

Police were called to the scene at the same time.

Firefighters used a hose-reel jet to extinguish the blaze.

The vehicle was in the road.

Suffolk Highways was also called to the scene as there was debris in the road.

The incident is being in investigated as arson – no arrests have been made but police inquiries are ongoing.

Recovery for the car was arranged and the incident was dealt with by 3.26am.
