Emergency services respond to Orwell Bridge incident

Emergency services were called to an incident on the Orwell Bridge near Ipswich.

Police were alerted at 1.04pm to the incident involving concerns for a male.

The fire and ambulance service as well as the coastguard were also called.

Both carriageways of the A14 between the Nacton and Wherstead slip roads (junctions 56 and 57) were closed.

At 2.53pm, a police spokesman said the eastbound carriageway had reopened and the westbound was partially open with one lane blocked.

At 4.54pm, a spokeswoman said the lane had been reopened.

Police have now confirmed a man has died following the incident.
