A14 between Claydon and Copdock, near Ipswich, to be closed for six to eight weeks for repairs

A stretch of the A14 will be closed every night for six to eight weeks for repair works in Suffolk.

The works will start on Tuesday, August 27 to repair the road surface between junction 52 in Claydon and junction 55 in Copdock, near Ipswich.

The road will be closed from 8pm to 6am while the works take place – however, both sides of the road will not be closed simultaneously.

The repairs will take place on around four and a half miles of road will involve overlaying the concrete sections with asphalt.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: “We recognise how disruptive closures on this section of the A14 are to local residents but repairs are needed to extend the life of the road surface to minimise the need for more extensive repairs in the future.”

While the eastbound carriageway is closed, traffic will be diverted from junction 52 in Claydon to travel along the B1113 through Bramford and Sproughton, then along the A1071 and A1214 to rejoin the A14 at the Copdock roundabout.

The westbound diversion will follow this same diversion route but in reverse.

Further information will be sent out to residents closer to the start of the project.
