Fire crews involved in floating restaurant rescue in Shotley




Fire crews are currently on the scene in Shotley rescuing passengers and crew from a river cruise restaurant.

Six units from Princes Street, Holbrook, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft South arrived at Wades Lane just after 7pm.

The Allen Gardiner River Cruise Restaurant had ran aground 20 metres from the shore and called the fire service to be rescued.

As of 8.40pm, three crews had been stood down but the others were creating a mud path for a swift water rescue team to extract the eight passengers and 3 crew members from the restaurant.
