Firefighters rescue person from River Gipping in Ipswich




Firefighters helped rescue a person from a river in a Suffolk town in the early hours of this morning.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to the incident in Ipswich at Yarmouth Road near the Mermaid pub at 5.18am.

A spokeswoman said a rescue boat was deployed to save a male who was in the River Gipping.

Two crews from Princes Street attended and the male was left in the care of paramedics.

Police were also called to support.

The incident was dealt with by 6.57am.
