Holland and Barrett opens in former Carphone Warehouse in Tavern Street, Ipswich

A former phone shop in Ipswich is breathing new life as a health and wellbeing retailer launches its latest store.

Holland and Barrett is welcoming customers into its new shop, in the former Carphone Warehouse in Tavern Street, from today.

Store manager Martin Palman said the 1270 sq ft unit has a fresh look and feel, having been refitted with recyclable steel, wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and ‘efficient’ LED lighting.

He said: “The team and I are delighted to be moving right into the centre of Ipswich.

“Our team of qualified to advise colleagues are dedicated to looking after the community’s health and wellness needs.”

Mr Palman said the store team had more than 25 years of combined experience with Holland and Barrett.

“We can’t wait to welcome in new customers and look forward to serving your needs here in Ipswich,” he added.

The Carphone Warehouse unit shut in 2020 – with plans to turn the upper floors into flats being approved this week.

Holland and Barrett previously ran two stores in the town centre.

Its launch in Tavern Street followed the closure of its branches in The Buttermarket Shopping Centre and Westgate Street.

It also recently opened a concession store in Next.

This comes as part of a £70 million investment scheme into revitalising its stores.
