Ipswich Town Football Club partners with First Bus to offer free rides to and from home games

Football fans eager to get to Portman Road on match day will soon be able to enjoy free travel into Ipswich for home games.

Ipswich Town Football Club announced a three-year partnership with First Bus on Sunday.

Under the agreement, the Blue Army will be offered free travel to catch a ride to select home games from Copdock or Martlesham Park and Ride.

This comes at an exciting time for the club, Piers Marlow, managing director of First Bus’ East of England division, said, with the Tractor Boys having secured their spot in the Premier League in its final game of the season on Saturday.

Town clinched a 2-0 win against Huddersfield, marking two consecutive promotion seasons.

Mr Marlow said: “First Bus has been an important part of the Ipswich and wider Suffolk community for many years.

“We hope that our partnership with Ipswich Town will allow us to reach a wider audience and encourage more people to choose public transport or park and ride as their preferred method of travel, especially on match days.”

The offer will be for match ticket holders.

Full advice on how to access the service can be found here.

As it stands, the agreement will last until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Andy Wooldridge, ITFC’s commercial director, said the club was delighted to be able to partner with such a recognisable company.

He added: "Given the stadium’s location in the town centre, to be able to partner with First Bus to make it easier for supporters to get to Portman Road brings huge positives for both the club and the town.

"We thank First Bus for their support and investment and we look forward to the partnership growing over the coming years.”
