Ipswich independent fashion store Threads For All opens in The Walk

Fresh, new, fun and affordable – this is the ethos of Ipswich’s newest independent fashion and accessories store.

Will Hamer and Jenny Needham opened Threads For All, in The Walk, on Saturday.

The pair, who worked together before they launched the shop, believed fashion should be inclusive and accessible.

On offer is a wide range of clothing for all ages, including pre-loved and vintage, accessories, fragrances, homeware and more.

Will said they wanted the store to be cozy and welcoming, which inspired the store’s rustic look. They even play vinyl records.

The pair did much of the conversion work themselves, having been handed the keys three weeks ago.

Will said: “Our main aim is to be affordable. We don’t want to price ourselves out of the market.”

Clothing sold at Threads For All is designed to be gender-neutral and unisex, Will said.

He said: “We’d been looking to open a store for six months and, eventually, we saw this unit and thought it was perfect.

“We’ve made it a nice space, with a more ‘oldie-worldy’ feel – sort of the way it should be – some stores can be stark white, so we wanted the shop to be a bit more inviting.

“We’re 100 per cent unique, we want people to come in and see what we do themselves.

“We’re all about positivity.”

In addition to the clothing stock, the pair will also allow customers to customise their own clothes, with stickers, tie dye, sewing or by using a heat press, all of which are present on-site.

They also rent shelf space to other businesses.

Looking to the future, the pair would like to do work with the community.

Ideas they are considering include a board where people can advertise their businesses.

They would also like to start hosting workshops to show how they make products and potentially working with Suffolk New College, the University of Suffolk and charities based in the town.

Jenny said: “We we want to get involved with the community.

“What we want to offer is something fresh, new, fun – something a bit different.”
