Midwife at Ipswich Hospital reunited with millennium baby 25 years on when she gave birth to her own daughter
A midwife has spoken of the moment she was reunited with a millennium baby when she delivered her daughter 25 years on.
Margaret, who works at Ipswich Hospital, said in the lead up to the year 2000 there was panic about the impact about the millennium bug.
She said: “We all thought the computer systems were going to crash so it was quite a relief when everything was all fine.
“And then baby Lacey made her entrance to mum Rachel with her partner Jeremy there. It was lovely.”
Lacey was one of the first millennium babies delivered at Ipswich Hospital.
Twenty five years on, when a pregnant Lacey arrived at the hospital to give birth, Margaret realised she was the millennium baby she had delivered on January 1 in the year 2000.
“When Lacey and her partner Bradley came into hospital it rang a bell – and it was her.
“So I’d delivered her and now was there with her and her partner to support her giving birth to baby Delilah,” said Margaret.
Lacey said: “To have the same lovely lady bring my first daughter into this world who brought me, my mum’s first daughter, is incredible.
“We knew we would be in the safest of hands.
“It really is a full circle moment. Our family will forever we grateful to Margaret.”
