Former Ipswich Yates in Tower Street up for rent

A vacant building that previously housed a pub and restaurant in Ipswich town centre is up for rent after it closed earlier this year.

The former Yates, in Tower Street, has been listed online by Everard Cole.

The pub closed on September 2 after the building’s lease expired, and it was returned to its landlord.

Yates, which is owned by Stonegate Pub Company, took over the building in 2017, after the closure of the Robert Ransome Wetherspoons.

However, it was a Yates before J D Wetherspoon opened at the site – opposite its other pub, The Cricketers.

The only remaining Stonegate pub in Ipswich is The Plough, in Dog’s Head Street.

Everard Cole is advertising the building to let.

Its asking price is about £65,000 – although the firm said it may also consider offers to buy the building.

All of the former equipment inside the building has been stripped and the property is in the shell state, however, some fixed furniture remains.
