The Suffolk Punch, in Norwich Road, Ipswich, shuts doors as landlords step down
The landlords of an Ipswich pub have thanked customers for ‘the laughs and banter’ after announcing they are stepping down.
The Suffolk Punch, in Norwich Road, welcomed customers for the last time on Friday.
In a social media post, the landlords said they had to close the pub due to personal reasons and have thanked the community for its support.
“I just want to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you amazing people and community,” the post said.
“Really appreciate all the love and support you gave us.”
The Suffolk Punch is a grade-II listed building, which has closed several times in the past few years, including in 2020.
It is owned by pub giant Stonegate.
A spokesperson for the firm said they are looking to recruit a new publican and have asked those interested to apply.
They said: “We know how important the pub is to the local area, so we are working hard behind the scenes to recruit the right publican to reopen the pub and serve the community for years to come.”
