Ipswich Town Football Club submits expansion plans for Playford Road training grounds in Rushmere St Andrew

A hydrotherapy centre and upgraded gym are just some of the new facilities proposed as part of an expansion of Ipswich Town Football Club’s training grounds.

The Tractor Boys have submitted plans for a makeover to their site in Playford Road, Rushmere St Andrew.

If approved, all 13 pitches would remain and a new ‘state-of-the-art’ first team building would be constructed.

However, new areas proposed include space for extra staff facilities, a hydrotherapy centre, a modernised gym and rehabilitation areas for players.

In addition, a new point of entry will open for all visitors, as well as players and staff. Extra space will also be allocated for dining and parking.

A spokesman for ITFC said it was expected that work would begin in time and could be ready in time for the 2026/27 season.

Under the plans, the existing main building will undergo a refurbishment for permanent use by the club’s academy and women’s teams

The Blues engaged with residents to hear their thoughts on the new proposals, the spokesman said.

Feedback from these sessions was fed back into the plans.
