Pupils from Hillside Primary School, Ipswich, become mascots for Ipswich Town’s fixture against Bristol Rovers

A group of primary school pupils from Ipswich were given the honour of becoming mascots during a Town clash earlier this month.

Isabela, Riley, Brileigh, and Bryant were the lucky pupils chosen to represent Hillside Primary School, in Belstead Avenue, when Ipswich Town took on Bristol Rovers on January 12 in the FA Cup’s third round.

All four had been selected at random by having their names drawn from a hat during assembly.

During their special day, the children were given the opportunity to meet Town players, lead the team onto the pitch and cheer them on in the stands as they secured their 3-0 win.

The children have offered their thoughts on the day.

Isabela said: “It was a truly amazing, wonderful experience.

“My prediction of a 3- 0 win was correct.”

Bryant said: “I really enjoyed meeting Sam Morsy. He is my favourite player.”

In addition to the trip to Portman Road, the school also hosted assemblies, with the pupils sharing their memories and stories.

Lucy Wass, headteacher, said the school was proud to have taken part in the event – and offered thanks to the club for enabling it.

She added: "We were delighted to represent Hillside Primary School at Portman Road on Saturday and lend our support to Ipswich Town.

“The children had a brilliant day meeting players and getting to walk out onto the pitch with the team.

“The experience has really inspired them and given us all memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone at ITFC.”
