Large fire service response to incident in Norwich Road and Beaufort Street, Ipswich




A large number of firefighters were called to an incident at a block of flats in Ipswich.

Twelve engines were alerted to Cumberland Towers, an 11-storey building in Norwich Road, at 4.10pm.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said it was a relatively small fire in a bin store but a large number of engines were called due to it being at a high-rise building.

Crews used breathing equipment, hose reel jets and one hydrant to extinguish the fire.

Beaufort Street was cordoned off while firefighters battled the blaze.

The incident was dealt with by 5.02pm.
