Suffolk resident bags £1 million jackpot in May Premium Bond draw
A lucky Suffolk resident is one of two people to scoop the £1 million jackpot in this month’s Premium Bond draw.
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) has handed out £2.16 million to 329 winners for May, the second highest total nationally, according to NoDepositRewards.org.
According data supplied by the website, the average winnings in the county this month was £6,565 – the highest across the board.
Across the UK, £413.9 million was dished out this month from 130,705,305,671 eligible bonds.
This includes two winners of the £1 million, including one person in Suffolk, whose location has not been revealed.
The Suffolk winner holds £35,000 in Premium Bonds and purchased their winner in April 2017.
According to NS&I, the other winner was from Derbyshire. They bought their winner in July 2021 and has £25,361 in bonds.
In total, 79 people secured £100,000; 157 got £50,000, while 315 got the £25,000 prize, 789 won £10,000 and 1,575 received £5,000.
This is despite the Premium Bond prize fund rate being reduced from 4 per cent to 3.8 per cent in April.
