Man, 33, to be charged with murder of Ipswich man Clive Wyard, 74, who was found collapsed outside his home in 2018
A 33-year-old man is to be charged with the murder of a 74-year-old man who was found unconscious outside his Ipswich home in the summer of 2018.
Rhys Burroughs, previously of Colchester Road, Ipswich, has been summonsed to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court in May, where he will be formally charged with the murder of Clive Wyard.
Mr Wyard was found collapsed on his driveway in Valley Road at about 7.15am on Friday, July 20, 2018.
He had sustained injuries to his head and face, including black eyes, a split cleft lip, a further cut to his lip, a deep cut to his cheek and other cuts to his body.
Mr Wyard was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where he died 12 days later.
A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Wyard died as a result of a severe head injury, having sustained a skull fracture and a bleed on the brain.
The Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team then undertook an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death, resulting in approval from the Crown Prosecution Service to bring charges against Burroughs.
Burroughs, who is currently in custody, has been summonsed to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 20, where he will also be charged with attempted robbery.
