Man, 75, taken to hospital after emergency services attend crash between two HGVs on the A1071 in Hintlesham between Ipswich and Hadleigh
A man has been taken to hospital with injuries after emergency services attended a crash between two HGVs in a village.
Police, fire and the ambulance service were called at about 10am today to the collision near the entrance of Hintlesham Fisheries on the A1071 in Hintlesham, between Hadleigh and Ipswich.
Suffolk Police closed the road in both directions this morning for the recovery of the HGVs and the route was reopened at about 1.20pm.
An occupant of one of the HGVs, a 75-year-old man, was cut free from his vehicle by firefighters.
He was released into the care of the East of England Ambulance Service before he was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at about 10am with reports of a road traffic collision involving two lorries.
"An ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle and a response car from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
“One patient, an adult male, was transported to Colchester Hospital for further care."
Two fire engines, one from Ipswich East and the other from Princes Street, attended the incident.
