Logan Burnett, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, admits killing Courtney Mitchell in Burrell Road
A man has admitted killing a 26-year-old mum of three.
Logan Burnett, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, pleaded guilty to the murder of Courtney Mitchell at Ipswich Crown Court today.
He also admitted two further charges of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife.
Emergency services were called to Burrell Road shortly after 7.10pm on Tuesday, August 6, after reports a woman had been stabbed.
Officers attended and found Courtney with serious injuries.
Despite treatment by emergency services, she died a short time later in hospital.
A Home Office post-mortem examination found her cause of death was fatal injuries from stab wounds inflicted to the chest.
Burnett was represented in court by Christopher Paxton KC.
Riel Karmy-Jones KC and Hannah Gladwell prosecuted.
Judge Martyn Levett presided over the hearing.
Detective Superintendent Nicola Wallace, the senior investigating officer, said: “This was a completely senseless loss of life which has devastated Courtney’s family.
“Logan Burnett is a violent coward who murdered a defenceless woman in front of her friends and members of the public in broad daylight.
“At least by admitting his guilt, Burnett has spared Courtney’s family the additional trauma of a trial, but the pain and anguish his actions that evening have caused will live with them for ever.”
Burnett was remanded into custody.
He will be sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on February 17.
