Man from Felixstowe bailed after ‘suspicious’ Ipswich house fire in Portman Road




A man has been bailed after a house fire in Ipswich earlier this week, which left two people injured.

A 24-year-old from Felixstowe was arrested in connection with a suspicious house fire in Portman Road yesterday, which is being treated as arson.

He is due to answer bail on November 12.

Emergency services were called at 5.17am to a fire at a terrace house.

Six people were in the home at the time and while four were uninjured, two suffered leg fractures after jumping from an upstairs window and were taken to hospital.

Eleven people in the immediate area were also evacuated from their homes.

A police cordon remains at the scene while inquiries continue.
