Man charged after assault in St Helen’s Street, Ipswich, which left another man hospitalised




A man was charged following an assault which saw another man hospitalised.

The incident in Ipswich is believed to have been at about 9.45pm yesterday in St Helen’s Street, near the junction with Bond Street.

The man in his 30s was assaulted following an argument with a man, who was unknown to him, and suffered injuries to his arm.

The victim walked to Tavern Street where he sought help.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Officers arrested Keith McKenzie, aged 48 and of Bond Street, Ipswich, in connection with the incident shortly after 11am.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm.

McKenzie appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court today and has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, March 6.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who was driving in the vicinity of St Helen’s Street or Bond Street and has a dashcam, to review the footage between 9.35pm and 9.50pm and check if it has captured any images of an altercation.
