A man has appeared in court charged with burglary, attempted burglary and theft after a car was stolen from a property in Ipswich at the weekend.

Police charged 20-year-old Connor Roache, of Spinner Close, Ipswich, with the offences after a man awoke to a series of notifications on his camera doorbell at his Shrubland Avenue home on Saturday morning.

Officers said the incident happened at some point between 3am and 6.45am on Saturday, when the man found his wife's handbag and car keys were missing.

Police then arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of burglary on Sunday and he was taken to Martlesham Heath Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Roache was charged with burglary relating to the Shrubland Avenue incident, and theft and five counts of attempted burglary that all took place on Sproughton Road on September 10, as well as two counts of interference of vehicles.

He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court earlier today, where Roache was remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on October 11 for a trial.
