Police from the Serious Crime Disruption Team carried out investigations and found that Keegan was selling drugs to Ipswich drug users between the end of April 2022 to end of July 2022.

Interception of his phone found he was issuing bulk text messages to his contacts and was dealing with the incoming flow of calls and messages from drug users wishing to purchase drugs.

During this three-month period just under 3,000 messages were sent by Keegan.

Officers also found that there was no activity on the phone between 8 June 2022 and 6 July 2022 which corresponded to the period Keegan was recalled to prison following a breach of licence conditions after his arrest for possessing Class A drugs.

Following his arrest, he was charged on October 3 2022 for the two offences.

DC Daniel Steel of the Serious Crime Disruption Team said: “This was a classic example of how drug dealers use mobile phones to ply their criminal trade. County lines drug dealing has a terrible impact on Ipswich and the surrounding area.

“The sentence passed reflects this conviction will serve as both an example of what awaits other drug dealers and how meticulously we at Suffolk police will work to put such individuals behind bars.”

The Serious Crime Disruption Team’s aim is to disrupt serious and organised gangs whose criminal activity focuses on issues such as drug supply and robbery/burglary.

The team develop the relevant information and intelligence, conduct enforcement activity, and then provide an officer who will build the case and see the investigation through to trial.

Concerns around drug dealing or young or vulnerable adults being targeted by crime groups can be reported on 101.
