Ipswich Harland Street victim named by police as murder accused Edgars Slavinkski appears before Basildon Crown Court




A man who died two years after being attacked in Ipswich has been named, as the man accused of his murder has appeared before court.

Raimonds Gromolds, 40, was assaulted at his Harland Street home at around 4am on June 9 in 2019, and sustained extensive head and facial injuries and internal abdominal pain.

Mr Gromolds was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He later died in 2021.

Edgars Slavinkski, 30, was charged with the murder of Mr Gromolds after being detained by police at Stansted Airport on Friday, March 31.

He also stands accused of acting with intent to pervert the course of justice, and was remanded to custody.

Today, he appeared before Basildon Crown Court where a plea and trial preparation hearing date was set for May 30.

A preliminary hearing will then take place on September 18.
