Trafalgar House, the former Ipswich Yates, in Tower Street, still up for rent a year after it closed

A former Ipswich pub remains on the market a year after it closed.

Trafalgar House, in Tower Street, which formerly housed Yates, is still listed for rent by Everard Cole for £65,000.

Gareth Hatton, from Everard Cole, said the firm had a mix of interest in the site, but had yet to secure a deal.

He said: “It would make an ideal bar or restaurant, music venue, or activity space.

“Some may even consider a sports bar now that Ipswich are in the Premier League, as the venue has a large capacity over two floors.”

Mr Hatton said the building remained in a ‘shell’ state, with all equipment having been stripped.

The building went on the market in December after Yates closed on September 2, 2023.

Stonegate Pub Company, which ran the site, decided to shut after its lease for the building expired.

The company took over the pub in 2017 after the closure of the Robert Ransomes Wetherspoons.

However, it was a Yates before J D Wetherspoon opened at the site – opposite its other pub, The Cricketers.
