A14 between Seven Hills roundabout, near Ipswich, and Felixstowe Dock Spur roundabout could see delays due to planned farmers’ protest

Motorists should expect delays on the A14 due to a planned farmers’ protest.

The ‘go slow’ protest will start at 10am tomorrow near the Seven Hills roundabout, Ipswich.

It will then proceed along the dual carriageway to the Felixstowe Dock Spur roundabout, travelling between the two major roundabouts in town until about 4pm.

Police are liasing with organisers and agencies to enable a safe and peaceful protest, during which farmers will be driving tractors.

The protest will mirror a larger demonstration planned for London on the same day.

Hundreds of tractors are expected to descend on Westminster in opposition to the government’s decision to impose changes to agricultural inheritance tax in October’s budget.

Many farmers have reacted with anger and dismay to the inheritance tax changes for farming businesses, which limit the existing 100 per cent relief for farms to the first £1 million of combined agricultural and business property.

Last month, an estimated 13,000 people gathered in Westminster to protest against the Budget’s impact on farming.
