East of England Co-op opens new food store in Woodbridge Road, Ipswich




A new Co-op food store has opened on the site of an old car dealership in Ipswich.

The East of England Co-op officially welcomed shoppers to its new shop at 345 Woodbridge Road this morning.

The store, at the old Renault dealership, replaces the existing shop at the corner of Albion Hill and Brunswick Road. All staff were transferred.

It follows the opening of an outlet at Ipswich Station on June 4.

Andy Rigby, chief executive, said: “We’re on a roll with store openings and reopening's, following our recent opening at Ipswich Station and the re-openings of our Holbrook and Capel St Mary Food Stores.

“Our brand new store is another example of not only the superb momentum our teams have created but another fantastic food store we have delivered for the local community.

”This store represents a vast improvement on the service we can provide the local community. With many new features, sustainable elements and the transfer of colleagues from our former Brunswick Road store, our Woodbridge Road highlights our commitment to do the right thing by our local communities.”

The new store features a large car park for customers, plus four electric vehicle charging points.

The roof is also fitted out with solar panels.

The old Brunswick Road store has been put on the market by estate agent Fenn Wright.
