Ipswich pub Cock & Pye, in Upper Brook Street, to shut next week for six figure makeover

One of Ipswich’s oldest pubs is set for a six figure makeover next week.

The Cock & Pye, in Upper Brook Street, will shut on Monday so the site can be renovated.

Set to reopen next month, the pub will feature a fresh new look, with a refurbished garden, including new heaters, plus upgrades to the inside as well as new televisions.

Once it reopens, punters will be able to enjoy extended opening hours, with it welcoming customers from 8am.

The makeover means Greene King, which runs the pub, is on the hunt for more staff.

It is currently recruiting a part time chef, a kitchen team leader and a front of house worker.

According to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the Cock & Pye dates back to the 16th century.
