Opening date for Ipswich’s third Lidl at Anglia Retail Park revealed

The opening date for a town’s third Lidl has been announced.

The store’s opening at Ipswich’s Anglia Retail Park, in Bury Road, will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by pupils from Whitehouse Community Primary School on Thursday.

Construction of the multi-million pound shop began in February and will create about 40 new jobs.

Andrew Hodgkinson, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “Demand for our best value products continues to grow across the country, so we’re excited to open our newest store in Ipswich.

“We recognise the importance of serving the communities we operate in, so it was our pleasure to donate towards Whitehouse Community Primary School, which will result in them being able to purchase sensory equipment.

“We’re excited to celebrate the opening with some of the pupils from the school and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors.”

The firm donated £999 to the school.

The project has been ongoing since 2022, when plans were first submitted for the former B&Q garden centre.

They were given the green light in October of last year.

Ipswich’s other Lidl stores are in Crane Boulevard and Handford Road.
