Parcel of land at White Wheat Barn Farm, in Upper Street, Baylham, near Ipswich, could become for equestrian use

A parcel of land in a village could be used for equestrian purposes.

Luisa Edwardes and Andrew King have applied to Mid Suffolk District Council to convert the use of the 8.2 acre plot at White Wheat Barn Farm, in Upper Street, Baylham, near Ipswich.

A planning statement said the pair bought the land and accompanying barn in mid-December from Suffolk Sight Charitable Organisation.

The former owners, which had it for 10 years, had leased the land to a local farmer for use in his crop rotation and hay production.

Since taking it on, the new owners have kept their ponies on the land.

The applicants own the site’s access track.

The barn at the plot has permission to be converted into a home.

The applicants have topped up an existing area of hardstanding since buying the land, which is near the entrance to the site.

The planning statement said it serves as an adequate parking area.

It said, as the ponies are owned by the applicant’s and a family member, there will only be incidental, sporadic other vehicles at the site other than the residents.
