A burglar who stole £1,300 worth of power tools has been jailed – with police warning he should learn his lesson after 'years of habitually committing burglaries'.

Clifford Graham, from Ipswich, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court today and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after admitting burglary.

The 57-year-old stole £1,300 worth of power tools when he broke into an address in Anglesea Road, Ipswich, on April 18.

Detectives forensically linked him to the scene and CCTV captured him in the vicinity at the time.

Phone evidence was also used that proved Graham, of no fixed address, was in contact with an accomplice.

The 56-year-old accomplice pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and was given a suspended sentenced at an earlier hearing in late April.

Investigating officer DC Jared Fortune said: “The detectives of Ipswich CID gave no quarter in pursuing every line of inquiry to ensure that Graham had no other option than to plead guilty to this offence.

"I particularly commend the work of PC Aimee Berry for rigorously obtaining key CCTV footage and also for identifying Graham's co-defendant which yielded the discovery of the stolen power tools, now returned safely to the victim.

"After years of habitually committing burglaries, perhaps this time Mr Graham will learn his lesson."
