Plans approved to convert warehouse in Tye Lane, Ipswich, to dog day care centre

Plans have been approved to transform a warehouse into a dog day care centre for up to 50 dogs in Suffolk.

Applicants Mr. and Mrs. Frost submitted the proposal to Mid Suffolk District Council to convert a commercial warehouse at Bramford Park, Tye Lane, Ipswich, into a dog day care facility.

The 369 square metre building, previously used for light industrial storage, will become Precious Paws (Suffolk) and is set to employ up to seven people.

The building will undergo internal modifications and fencing will be installed around the courtyard to create an outdoor area for the dogs, but its overall structure will remain unchanged.

The local authority approved the plans earlier this week – despite objections on the planning portal regarding animal safety and site access.

Concerns were raised over the potential danger to dogs if they were to escape the facility given the presence of active haulage firms and HGV traffic in the area, including CJ Frost Transport.

However, Mid Suffolk has stated that a secure fence must be installed before the business can commence operations.

Other objections highlighted the 'quiet lane' status of Tye Lane, expressing concerns that increased traffic from the dog day care facility could negatively impact the road's condition.

Once open, Precious Paws (Suffolk) will care for dogs from 8am to 6pm from Monday to Friday.
