Poundland to shut at Copdock Mill Interchange, Ipswich, later this month
Poundland is set to close its large store on the outskirts of Ipswich after 20 months.
The discount retail chain has confirmed that it was unable to agree terms to stay at its store in Copdock Mill Interchange, so it will shut on May 20.
A Poundland spokesperson said: “We’d like to thank customers for their continued support, we look forward to welcoming them to our store at Sailmakers Shopping Centre.
“It goes without saying whenever we close a store in circumstances like these, we do all we can to look for other opportunities for colleagues and that work is now underway.”
Poundland opened at Copdock in September 2023, filling the unit that was vacant for three years after Mothercare shut in 2020.
It is rumoured that Next plans to open at the site, with the clothing retailer advertising for jobs at a store in Copdock.
It is looking for a sales manager, a store manager and an assistant store manager.
Next has been approached for comment.
