Ipswich pub Mannings, in the Cornhill, hopes to open earlier on Ipswich Town Football Club match days

A popular pub hopes to open earlier on match days as Ipswich Town Football Club test their mettle in the Premier League.

Mannings, in the Cornhill, is seeking a conditional addition amendment to its licensing agreement from Ipswich Borough Council.

The team hope to open from 8am on match days, which would also allow them to sell alcohol earlier.

If approved, the pub would serve punters two hours earlier that normal, allowing staff to sell alcohol from the moment it opens – provided kick-off is on or before 12.30pm.

This will apply to both home and away games.

The application will be put before planners soon.
