Person dies after being hit by train near Ipswich

A person has died after being hit by a train near Ipswich.

British Transport Police were called to the line near Bentley at 8.35am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman said the incident was not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said Station Road in Bentley was closed in both directions either side of the level crossing.

Motorists were asked to find an alternative route.

Meanwhile, Greater Anglia said lines were blocked due to a person hit by a train between Colchester and Ipswich.

A spokesman said: "Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

"Disruption is expected until further notice."
