Suffolk's most dangerous neighbourhoods revealed according to April 2023 police crime figures including Lowestoft, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds




Thousands of crimes are reported to police in Suffolk each month, including anti-social behaviour, burglary and violent offences – but where are the worst hotspots for recorded crimes in the county?

Figures collated by SuffolkNews reveal some of the most dangerous areas in the county, based on the number of crimes reported in the latest month which has data available – April.

Below you can search for your street to find out if Suffolk Police have logged any crimes in your neighbourhood, and we also reveal how many crimes have been reported in some of the county's biggest towns.

Within the three policing neighbourhoods in Ipswich - Central, East and West - there was a total of 1,368 crimes reported in the month.

Sexual offences and violence were the most frequent type of crimes reported within the three areas, with a total of 516.

In Lowestoft, 776 crimes were reported in April, the most common of which were violence and sexual offences, with 286 during the month, followed by 112 reports of anti-social behaviour.

Ipswich West recorded the next highest total of crimes, with 515 reported, 205 of which were violence and sexual offences.

In Ipswich Central there were 504 in total, which was made up of 173 violence and sex offences and 57 shoplifting reports, amongst others.

March saw 443 crimes reported in Bury St Edmunds, with Home Office data revealing there were 169 violence and sexual offences and 26 anti-social behaviour offences reported as well as 57 reports of criminal damage and arson.

Ipswich East was the next highest area for crime, with a total of 349 crimes recorded in the area, 138 of which were violence and sexual offences.

In Stowmarket, 291 crimes were reported in the month of April - 114 were violence and sex offences and 35 were anti-social behaviour.

In Sudbury, there were 277 crimes reported, data from the Home Office revealed, along with 211 in Haverhill and 192 in Hadleigh.

Felixstowe was next with 168, while there were 141 crimes reported in Woodbridge.

Police data shows there were 140 crimes recorded in Beccles and Bungay, while Leiston had 130, Newmarket had 126, the Mildenhall area had 104, and Leiston had 95.

Halesworth had 87 crimes while Eye had the fewest with 53.
