Man left with head injury after altercation outside Tesco in St Matthew's Street, Ipswich




A man was taken to hospital with a head injury after an altercation in Ipswich, which led to a road being cordoned off by police.

Officers were called to outside Tesco in St Matthew's Street this morning. There had been local reports of blood on the pavement.

Police said a man was assaulted at the nearby Alexander House apartment building and that he sustained a head injury in the altercation.

A spokesman added: "He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his injury is being assessed.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the community."
