Roads closed as crews tackle building fire in Ipswich town centre




Drivers are being advised to avoid roads in Ipswich town centre this afternoon while emergency crews tackle a building fire.

Five appliances from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service had been called to the blaze near the junction of Bond Street and St Helens Street, which was first reported at about 12.05pm.

On Twitter, the authority said vehicles are "strongly advised" to avoid the area, and road closures are in place.

According to the fire service's incident log, the 'stop time' – when appliances were able to start leaving the scene – was 1.52pm.
