Ipswich Betfred falls victim to robbery after man threatens staff in Carr Street bookmakers before making off with cash




A man went behind the counter of an Ipswich bookmakers and threatened staff, before making off cash.

The robber went into the the Carr Street Betfred on Thursday and, after a short while, went behind the counter and began to push staff around.

After threatening staff he made off with cash from the bookies. Suffolk Police have said they could not yet reveal how much had been stolen.

Today officers have issued an appeal for information, and are hoping people inside the bookmakers at the time of the robbery will contact police.

The suspect has been described by detectives as black, about 6ft tall, and was wearing a grey Le Coq Sportif hooded top.

A spokesman from Suffolk Police said: "Officers would like to hear from anyone who was inside the shop between 4.45pm and 5.15pm, or who was in Carr Street during the same timeframe and saw anyone acting suspiciously."

The spokesman added: "Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact South CID at Landmark House in Ipswich, quoting reference 38441/21."
