Royal Hospital School, in Holbrook, near Ipswich, unveils assembly hall upgrades
The ‘heart’ of a Suffolk independent school is set for a slew of upgrades as part of a major modernisation scheme.
Last month, The Royal Hospital School, in Holbrook, near Ipswich, began work to transform its assembly hall.
When complete, students will be able to make use of the ‘fresh, modern space’ for a wide range of activities, including drama and performances.
Included would be retractable seats, a redesigned stage with dressing rooms underneath, as well as updated audio equipment and storage.
The school hoped these would make the space more comfortable, functional and accessible.
The transformation comes as part of RHS’ 2033: Capital Investment Programme, a multi-million pound scheme that aims to drive growth and development in the lead up to the school’s centenary.
Irfan Latif, headmaster, said the school was excited to take a step forward for the redevelopment of the school.
He added: “The assembly hall is a central part of our school life, and this transformation will not only enhance the learning experience for our pupils but also allow us to offer even more opportunities for creativity, performance, and academic achievement.
“Strategic investments in facilities such as our new Sixth Form Centre and transformed assembly hall and boarding houses, will create an environment where our pupils can continue to grow, explore, and develop essential skills that will shape their futures with confidence.”
Work on the assembly hall began in March and is expected to finish in October.
