Second man arrested in connection with fatal stabbing of Ipswich mum Courtney Mitchell in Burrell Road





A second man has been arrested after the fatal stabbing of Courtney Mitchell in Ipswich last week.

Officers yesterday arrested a 35-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to the murder of the 26-year-old mum-of-three last Tuesday.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and bailed until October 12.

Meanwhile, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct by Essex Police regarding previous contact from the force with the deceased.

Emergency services were called to Burrell Road, in the town, shortly after 7.10pm following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Despite treatment by emergency services personnel including critical care paramedics from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, Ms Mitchell died a short time later.

Logan Burnett, 27, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, charged with her murder and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife.

Judge Martyn Levett adjourned the case until November 25.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
