Serving Suffolk police officer appears at Norwich Magistrates Court on public office offence




A serving Suffolk police officer has appeared in court charged with a misconduct in public office offence.

Ryan Althorpe, of Ipswich, was summonsed to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today to face the charge.

The charge relates to a woman who had reported being the victim of an alleged crime.

No plea was made during the hearing.

Althorpe, 30, is a temporary sergeant and currently suspended pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.

Following the court hearing, he was released on police bail and is due to appear for another hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on June 14.
