Fire crews from towns including Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Woodbridge on scene of mud rescue in Pin Mill Road, Chelmondiston, after boat becomes marooned





Seven fire crews, the coastguard and an ambulance are on the scene of a rescue after a boat became marooned on mud on a waterway in a Suffolk village.

One crew from Holbrook, two crews from Bury St Edmunds, three from Princes Street in Ipswich, one from Woodbridge and one from Ipswich East, were called to a waterway in Pin Mill Road, in Chelmondiston, on the Shotley Peninsula, at 3.50pm.

A person has become stuck on a marooned boat which is 150-200 metres away from the water’s edge.

The coastguard and firefighters are going to perform a mud rescue using specialist equipment and a truck which can handle difficult terrain.
